Welcome to Melam Dubai

        MELAM (Media for Enrichment of Language of Art and Music) is a cultural and friendly group that has been formed in Dubai with the primary objective of deeper study and encouragement of the language and the traditional art, music, folk arts, crafts and folk theatre of Kerala. A group of art-lovers who dare to think differently form the active core group of Melam with the aim of acquainting the ethnic art forms, that have their roots and spread their aroma in our own land, to the new generation, getting closer to the great artists and performers who have dedicated their lives to keep alive those dying art forms, presenting them before genuine lovers of art and staging programmes of traditional folk music and musical instruments.

         Melam started its activities formally in 2008 by introducing in U.A.E. the traditional folk theatre form of ‘Kanyarkali’ which is a unique heritage performing art of Palakkad District. Sri. Dwarakakrishnan, who had dedicated his life to Kanyarkali was honoured on various stages in the Emirates and several stage presentations and workshops were organized under his leadership
